The Brazilian College of Radiology and Image Diagnosis (CBR) is a national entity, affiliated to the Brazilian Medical Association (AMB), which represents doctors in the specialty of Radiology and Imaging. Among the entity's main objectives are to disseminate scientific knowledge, defend the specialty, encourage professional improvement and support the principles of excellence in diagnostic and therapeutic imaging methods and procedures.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Founded in 1948, today the CBR has 27 affiliated regional societies, distributed in all regions of the country, and has around 10,000 associated radiologists.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The CBR was founded on September 15, 1948, on the occasion of the 1st Brazilian Radiology Conference, held at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of S\u00e3o Paulo (FMUSP), by professors Rafael de Barros, Jos\u00e9 Maria Cabello Campos, Carlos Os\u00f3rio Lopes , Adelaido Ribeiro, Jo\u00e3o Baptista Pulch\u00e9rio Filho and Walter Bomfim Pontes. The event brought together radiologists from all over the country and was created to promote, represent, coordinate activities, integrate, regulate and professionalize specialists in Radiology.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n In 1949, CBR gained its first headquarters, located on Rua Sete de Abril, in the central region of the city of S\u00e3o Paulo. At the time, radiologist Jos\u00e9 Maria Cabello Campos, responsible for the first management of the entity, assumed the presidency of the CBR, and, on the same occasion, Rafael de Barros was appointed as the College's First Honorary Member.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n In 1950, the CBR was made official, being registered as a company with legal personality, in the Registry of Deeds and Documents of the 3rd Office of S\u00e3o Paulo. In 1951, the CBR moved to Rua Marconi, 94, in the center of S\u00e3o Paulo and was declared a state public utility entity by Decree n\u00ba 1.268\/1951. In 1953, the College already had 150 associates, a number that, year after year, grew and offered the entity an important representativeness in the medical field.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n In the pursuit of quality in the provision of services, since 1992 the CBR has developed qualification programs in Mammography, Ultrasound, Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance. Each one is made up of a National Quality Commission which, after a series of evaluations and inspections, grants the Quality Seal in the specific area and the CBR Qualification Certificate.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Throughout its history, the CBR has dedicated itself to the struggles of the medical profession and the professional development of its associate members. The entity's trajectory was and continues to be built through the work of radiologists from all over the country, who have dedicated themselves to the institution, whether forming part of the boards of each administration, or spontaneously collaborating in scientific activities and professional defense.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n CBR has always been behind the development of the specialty, which has ceased to be a part of the health care process and has become one of its most important areas.
