With the theme \u201cNeuroradiology\u201d, this year's edition of the ESOR \u2013 ASKLEPIOS International Course, an important and traditional course among radiologists, will take place in the cities of Porto Alegre, on August 29th, and Rio de Janeiro, on August 31st.<\/p>\n
The course is the result of an important partnership between CBR and\u00a0European School of Radiology (ESOR)<\/em>, educational institution linked to the\u00a0European Society of Radiology (ESR)<\/em>, and has been taking place for several years in Brazil, in different cities.<\/p>\n The ASKLEPIOS project was created to serve professional development, meeting recognized needs in the context of continuing radiology education. Its concept is versatile and broad even to cover evolving topics in European and non-European destinations. Its programs include multi-topic, organ-oriented, multi-modal, and multidisciplinary advanced courses designed for senior residents, general radiologists, and private practitioners in radiology or allied specialists.<\/p>\n This educational program is delivered by highly regarded European speakers and local speakers in an effort to open up new opportunities for knowledge exchange and enhance scientific collaboration.<\/p>\n One of the great differentials of ESOR courses is that they offer a combination of classes and case discussions, where participants, divided into smaller groups, have the opportunity to see cases together with professors, making it much easier to ask questions and exchange information. of experiences.<\/p>\n According to Dr. Leandro Lucato, who will teach the course, it is a condensed program, but quite varied. \u201cThere is a focus on Vascular Neuroradiology, a topic that has changed a lot in recent years. The treatment of patients with acute stroke has changed a lot and imaging plays a fundamental role in screening these patients, so this is an issue that has been fundamental for neuroradiologists to keep up to date. In addition, we will have updates in other fields, such as Oncology, infectious diseases, among others\u201d, he explains.<\/p>\n Dr. Lucato will teach classes on infectious diseases in order to show image patterns that help the radiologist make the diagnosis either of a specific disease or to narrow the differential diagnosis to a group of diseases. \u201cMy idea is to focus on imaging aspects that increase the specificity of the imaging exam in order to go a little further and help the clinician to help say that it is an infection or a specific disease\u201d, he adds.<\/p>\n Already Dr. L\u00edvia Morais, who will also teach classes, points out that the model adopted by the course, with lectures and practical and focused discussions, allows for a broad exchange of knowledge between lecturers and participants, which makes it a very dynamic and even richer event. \u201cIn addition, the opportunity to exchange experiences with renowned European speakers is, in my view, extremely positive\u201d, he adds.<\/p>\n In the lesson planning of Dr. L\u00edvia is approaching recent questions about the imaging management of patients with acute ischemic stroke, according to the\u00a0trials<\/em>\u00a0most recent publications in this sense, focusing on the particularities of each method, particularly MRI. \u201cMy intention is to bring a critical and practical view to the participants, directed to the information that needs to be provided so that patients can be managed in the best possible way\u201d, he concludes.<\/p>\n It is important to remember that classes will be taught in English and there will be no simultaneous translation service.<\/p>\n Meet the international professors:<\/strong><\/p>\n Prof. Arnd Doerfler is Professor of Neuroradiology at\u00a0University Erlangen-Nuremberg\u00a0<\/em>and Head of the Department of Diagnostic & Therapeutic Neuroradiology at the University Hospital Erlangen, Germany, since 2004. His research focuses on Multimodal Imaging in cerebrovascular disease, brain tumors, epilepsy, neurodegenerative and neuroimmunological diseases. His scientific and clinical focus is high-field MRI, Interventional Neuroradiology and endovascular therapy for stroke, aneurysms and vascular malformations, respectively.
