The colleagues interacted a lot with the instructors, reporting their local problems and difficulties, which made the course very dynamic and interactive, as it should be”, highlights Dr. Adelson André Martins, director of ABCDI.

The instructors brought up current discussions, addressing the panorama of diagnostic medicine in Brazil, the main regulations and opinions, supplementary health figures, a broad market analysis, which is fundamental for good management, and the sector's news and trends.

“We had many discussions regarding the glosses and adjustments of health insurance plans, as well as the disrespect for ANS Law 13.003/14 by health insurance companies. It was very productive, as the instructors were able to guide clinics on how to report, how to avoid retaliation and what precautions should be observed in contracts”, adds Dr. Adelson.

The course brought together participants from all corners of Brazil, such as Acre, Amapá, Pará, Brasília (DF), Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul, among other states.

For Dr. Luciano Muniz, from the Bragança Radiology Center in Bragança Paulista (inland São Paulo), understanding the dynamics of the supplementary health market, which is extremely fast, was what motivated him to participate in the course. “I needed to understand the change and complexity of medical procedure tables, the dynamics of creating new standards. As a doctor and clinic owner, I felt the need to facilitate negotiation in the market in which I work. This was my first contact with the management area and I saw how much we need to be active,” he explains.

The doctor, who will also participate in the second module of the course, also emphasizes that the course was also an opportunity to learn about and better understand the role of CBR and ABCDI in the professional defense of radiologists and imaging diagnostic clinics. “Many times, due to our busy routine, we do not use or update ourselves on a tool that we have at our disposal as members and we are left very unprotected,” he adds.

For CBR instructor and economic advisor Carlos Moura, it is essential to understand the market, its changes and the need to improve management. “It is important to remember that when a doctor decides to open a clinic, he becomes an entrepreneur. At this time, it is not enough to delegate; it is necessary to understand the market focus, the changes, and the threats. The percentage of disallowances in Brazil in supplementary health is 6% of all services provided. This is an alarming figure, as it involves wasted investments and efforts, in addition to the mechanism and structure that the clinic has to file an appeal. In the past, it was possible to survive with this percentage, but not anymore,” he warns.

To provide an even greater level of knowledge on the subject, the “Clinic Management” Course will be held again in September, from September 26 to 27, also in Brasília. In this second module, the theme will be “Learning to Negotiate Effectively with Health Insurance Companies”. Participants will have the opportunity to learn the ways to direct a negotiation strategy, delving into issues such as structuring the sales area, negotiating adjustments, negotiation opportunities and strategies, billing methods, scheduling prioritization tools, contracting in accordance with Law 13.003/14, among other points.

All information about the course is available on the CBR website, as well as the registration environment (https://cbr.org.br/educacao/gestao-de-clinicas/).
