The Federal Council of Medicine (CFM) swore in its federal councilors \u2013 full and alternate \u2013 elected for the 2024-2029 five-year term on Tuesday (October 1). As the highest authority in Brazilian medicine, the CFM will welcome the elected doctors to contribute their regional perspectives and professional experiences in the creation of regulations and standards that will define medical practice and patient care in Brazil in the coming years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Brazilian College of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging (CBR) celebrated the election of two representatives of the specialty for this important activity. \u201cThe CBR is aligned with the CFM, an institution that plays a strategic role in the practice of medicine. Being part of the board is a unique opportunity to strengthen the relationship and increasingly include the specialty\u2019s agenda in the national medical agenda,\u201d comments Cibele Carvalho, president of the institution and alternate councilor elected by the state of Minas Gerais.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cibele Carvalho, who attended the ceremony, also congratulated those elected to the CFM board of directors, as well as the council members. By unanimous vote, Dr. Jos\u00e9 Hiran da Silva Gallo was chosen to continue leading the Council. With him, the occupants of the other 11 leadership positions and the three members of the Accounting Committee were also defined. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meet the expert advisors in radiology and diagnostic imaging:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cibele Alves de Carvalho<\/strong>, alternate federal councilor, elected by the State of Minas Gerais. Graduated in Medicine from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) in 1993. She completed her medical residency in Clinical Medicine at Santa Casa de Belo Horizonte and has a specialization in Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging at Santa Casa de Belo Horizonte, completed in 1998. She was president of the Regional Council of Medicine of Minas Gerais (CRM-MG) between 2020 and 2022. On the board of the autarchy, she also held the positions of treasurer and vice president, in addition to having been coordinator of the Inspection and Communication Departments. At the CFM, she participated in the Committee for the Integration of Border Doctors; the Permanent Committee to Support the Coordination of the Doctoral Program in Bioethics; and the Evaluation of New Procedures. She was also a member of the Technical Chambers of Pediatrics; Humanities; Bioethics; Document Management; CFM Transparency; and Medical Cooperativism. He also contributed to the Working Groups for the Analysis of Ozone Therapy and the Defense of the Rights of Children and Adolescents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leonardo<\/strong>, alternate federal councilor, elected by the State of Cear\u00e1. Graduated in medicine from the Federal University of Cear\u00e1 (UFC) since 2007. He completed his medical residency in Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging at the General Hospital of Fortaleza (HGF), of the School of Public Health of the State of Cear\u00e1. He participated in an observational fellowship program at Stanford University, focusing on Breast MRI | Mammography<\/em>. He was director and president of the Cear\u00e1 Radiology Society. He is a radiologist at the Dr. Jos\u00e9 Frota Institute (IJF) and the Walter Cant\u00eddio University Hospital (HUWC) of the Federal University of Cear\u00e1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
