The Radiological Cases Marathon took place on the evening of the first day of Atualiza25 (March 21). Dr. Maur\u00edcio Zapparoli \u2013 Scientific Director of CBR, Dr. Fernando Morbeck, Dr. Marcos Birelli, Dr. Kamila Seidel and Dr. Ronaldo Baroni, both members of the Organizing Committee of the Atualiza25 Marathon, presented and mediated the activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Marathon podium looked like this: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ten state societies participated in the activity. Each society had five minutes to discuss and diagnose the previously drawn case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each presentation was evaluated by two criteria:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Quality of the case presented;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Presentation of the Case by the debater representing the Society<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The evaluations were carried out by the viewing public in real time and by an invited International Evaluation Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first case presented in the marathon was a 16-year-old female patient, referred for investigation of a liver nodule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second case of the Radiological Cases Marathon was about a 49-year-old man who started with a fever and nasal congestion, then progressed to myalgia and later dyspnea, tachypnea and desaturation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The third case was a 65-year-old patient who had decompensated heart failure (DHF) due to atrial fibrillation with high ventricular response and was taking anticoagulants.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fourth case was a 61-year-old female patient who presented with persistent vertigo for 3 weeks, progressing to sudden and progressive headache.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fifth case was a 53-year-old patient with a nodule on her right thigh, which had appeared abruptly one day earlier.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Case number six was a 6-year-old patient who had a fever spike, difficulties with oral diet, and episodes of vomiting and diarrhea.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The seventh case was a 46-year-old male patient who underwent total thyroidectomy for bilateral papillary thyroid microcarcinoma, with bilateral cervical lymph node involvement.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Case number eight was a 43-year-old woman who had been suffering for two months from dry cough, dyspnea and an episode of hypoxemia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ninth case was a 57-year-old woman who underwent a left mastectomy and sentinel lymph node examination for treatment of invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The last case was a 65-year-old man with a history of syncope (sudden illness) in 2014 and a total abdominal ultrasound was requested.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
