For the first time, the Brazilian College of Radiology (CBR)<\/strong>, through the Cultural Commission<\/strong>, takes a significant and transformative step by launching the campaign \u201cDoctors in the Backlands\u201d<\/strong>. More than a project, this initiative is a social and educational mission<\/strong> that unites solidarity, innovation and science to transform lives in the interior of Brazil.<\/strong> The action took place in the heart of the Sert\u00e3o of Para\u00edba<\/strong>, a region that symbolizes not only challenges, but also strength and resilience. With the goal of providing access to cutting-edge technology and training local doctors, Women of Breast Project<\/strong>, from the city of Cuit\u00e9 (PB)<\/strong>. The CBR promoted training in percutaneous breast biopsy<\/strong>, an essential technique for the early diagnosis of breast cancer<\/strong> \u2013 one of the main causes of death among women in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How was this social action?<\/mark><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the days August 28 and 29, 2025<\/strong>, the CBR sent the city of Cuit\u00e9 the Dr. Marianna Ferri<\/strong>, breast radiologist, and Priscilla Marques<\/strong>, a fourth-year fellow at UNIFESP, to undertake training in vacuum-assisted biopsy<\/strong>, guided by stereotaxis<\/strong> It is ultrasound<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This action was possible thanks to a partnership initiated by CBR during the campaign Solidarity Radiology\/Pink October CBR 2024<\/strong>, which included the donation of kits for percutaneous breast procedures by companies Bard<\/strong> It is Hologic<\/strong>. These kits were intended for the project \u201cTogether We Can Paint Para\u00edba Pink\u201d<\/strong>, carried out in partnership by NGOs Women with Breasts<\/strong> It is Official Friendly Americas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, at the time, despite there being a table dedicated to these procedures and the kits being available, there was no way to perform percutaneous diagnoses due to the lack of training of local professionals<\/strong>. With this, the CBR aligned this new action with the focus on technical training<\/strong>, promoting the strengthening of early diagnosis of breast cancer<\/strong> and bringing lasting impact to the population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why is this action so significant?<\/mark><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The \u201cDoctors in the Backlands<\/strong>\u201d is more than bringing knowledge \u2013 it is breaking barriers<\/strong>. It offers tools to doctors and healthcare professionals working in historically neglected areas, enabling faster, more effective, and more humane care. The campaign also reinforces an essential message: quality healthcare is everyone's right<\/strong>, regardless of location or available resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond Medicine, it's about Humanity<\/mark><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

By performing this action, the CBR marks a new chapter in your career<\/strong>, showing that radiology transcends science: it is empathy, presence and the fight for significant social impact<\/strong>. This experience teaches that It is not enough to have knowledge \u2013 you must share it<\/strong> and take it to places where it causes the greatest transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
