In a scenario where socio-environmental issues have gone from being a trend to an urgent matter, the health sector is also called upon to lead by example. The climate crisis is already directly impacting the health of populations, putting pressure on systems, increasing vulnerabilities, and demanding concrete responses, including within routine healthcare practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is in this context that the Brazilian College of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging (CBR) announces the launch of the Socio-Environmental Certification Seal, a pioneering initiative specifically for diagnostic imaging services, which reaffirms the CBR's leading role in creating technical benchmarks for quality in healthcare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The proposal originated within the CBR's Cultural Committee, concerned with bringing to the field of diagnostic imaging a structured and verifiable agenda of socio-environmental responsibility that practically involves themes such as: worker safety and health, diversity and inclusion, humanized and accessible care, responsible resource management, as well as reduction of waste and environmental impacts. For Dr. Linei Urban, Coordinator of the CBR's Cultural Committee and creator of the program, \u201cThe seal translates sustainability into practice, with objective criteria applicable to the reality of diagnostic imaging. It is an invitation to improvement through method, evidence, and responsibility.<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CBR's tradition of leading the way with quality certifications.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The launch reinforces a historic hallmark of the CBR: the creation of programs that raise standards and support the development of the sector. The first major milestone was the Mammography Seal, created in 1992, which paved the way for the evolution of other seals by modality (Ultrasound, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Computed Tomography and X-rays) and, subsequently, for the strengthening of the Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation Program (PADI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, CBR is taking another step by incorporating the socio-environmental dimension with a certification designed for the reality of imaging services, not as "green marketing," but as a technical instrument for qualification, management, and continuous improvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Objective methodology, 100% online and with two levels of certification.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The CBR Socio-Environmental Certification Seal has its own regulations and follows a fully online model, with virtual and asynchronous evaluation. The process begins with a self-assessment of the service, with a description of the practices ("how we do it"), classification of the criteria, and submission of evidence. This is followed by technical validation by the CBR, with a single feedback session for adjustments when necessary, and a final decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program is structured around pillars that comprehensively address environmental and social dimensions relevant to diagnostic imaging, such as: Environmental Management, Labor Practices, Human Rights, Infrastructure, Suppliers, and Society. It also includes CORE (non-negotiable) criteria related to legal compliance, radiological safety, worker health and safety, and human rights; failure to meet these criteria prevents certification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
