Between October 12th and 14th, the CBR 17 – Brazilian Congress of Radiology will be held, an annual event organized by the Brazilian College of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging (CBR). Again, it will be in Curitiba (PR), at the Expo Unimed Convention Center. Entries will open soon.
The content of the event will feature several novelties – there will be the inclusion of topics that were not part of previous editions, such as Pediatric Radiology and Professional Defense. However, one of the great advances will take place in the Breast course, thanks to a partnership that the CBR Mammography Commission has entered into with the Ibero-American Society of Mammary Image (SIBIM) – it will have a real impact on the class schedule.
“SIBIM is a medical-scientific society whose objective is to bring together specialist doctors in breast radiology in Latin American countries, as well as to contribute to the improvement of the scientific and educational level of diagnostic imaging and breast intervention, in all its aspects. ”, explains Dr. Linei Urban, coordinator of the Mammography Commission and one of those responsible for negotiating the partnership.
With the partnership, SIBIM brings, simultaneously to CBR 17, its XI Ibero-American Congress of Breast Imaging. She recalls that several countries have already hosted their congress, the most recent being Ecuador (2014), the Dominican Republic (2015) and Uruguay (2016). Its official languages are Portuguese and Spanish, usually receiving more than 300 participants.
“Brazil has already been actively participating in these events. But this year, we will have the privilege of being the host country. We have already confirmed several names of international speakers, such as doctors Melcior Sentís (Spain), Javier Rodriguez Lucero (Argentina), Ruby Espejo (Mexico), Javeir Romero (Colombia) and Miguel Pinochet (Chile)”, he says.
Dr. Dante Luiz Escuissato, CBR's scientific director, believes that, due to this alliance, between nine and ten speakers should come to Brazil for the Congress. He points out that “medical congresses are a point of convergence for the specialty and it is in them that technical and scientific innovations are presented”.
The main topics addressed will be the patterns of presentation of lesions in the various breast imaging tests, in addition to discussions on interventional techniques, use of BI-RADS® and anatomopathological correlation. There will also be a session on safety in the use of new technologies and contrasts and breast. “We count on everyone's presence!”, invites Dr. Linei.
Learn more about SIBIM
The Ibero-American Society of Breast Imaging (SIBIM – http://sibim.org/) was created in 2005, at the request of a group of Spanish radiologists, in agreement with the Inter-American College of Radiology (CIR), with the aim of representing the Ibero-American geographic, cultural and scientific environment in all its social, healthcare issues , teaching and research related to breast diagnosis and intervention.
Its objective is to bring together specialist physicians in diagnostic Radiology from Latin American countries and Spain, and encourage the development of Imaging Diagnosis and Breast Intervention, in all its aspects.
SIBIM looks at the question of the rights and duties of radiologists dedicated to the area and proposes guidelines to other societies and scientific institutions. It also aims to contribute to the improvement of the scientific level and to promote relationships with other specialties, associations, societies and national and international organizations related to the area of interest.
