The Brazilian College of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging (CBR) participated last Wednesday (December 4) in the symposium 'The future of medicine and the medicine of the future', held by the Parliamentary Front of Medicine (FPMED), at the Federal Senate, in Brasília (DF). Representing the College were: Dr. Cibele Carvalho – President of the CBR and Dr. Bernardo Tessarollo – 1st Secretary of the CBR. Dr. Bernardo was one of the debaters at the event.

During the symposium, the impacts of new technologies on healthcare, medical practices and the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) were discussed. The event was aimed at physicians, residents, professionals and healthcare students.
The first part of the symposium was marked by the opening, held by Senator Dr. Hiran Gonçalves – President of FPMED. After the opening ceremony, panel 2 was held, with the theme 'AI and In Silico Studies', in addition to the participation as a debater of the representative of CBR, Dr. Bernardo Tessarollo. After the end of this theme, panel 3 began, with the theme: “Robotics”. Panel 4 was the last and had the theme: 'Additive Manufacturing and Custom DMs'.
The President of CBR, Dr. Cibele Carvalho, talks about the use of 'AI' to help doctors: “AI should be a tool to help improve diagnosis and treatment, but it will never replace the doctor, much less human relationships”. The doctor also ended by talking about the importance of the topic and the event held by FPMED: “It is essential that the topic is discussed and regulated with the participation of our medical entities. Congratulations to the Parliamentary Front of Medicine for the initiative!”
