CBR obtains important legal victory in public civil action in Goioerê (PR).

Last month, on February 26th, Brazilian College of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging (CBR) obtained an important victory in a preliminary injunction in the Public Civil Action, pending before the Civil Court of Goioerê/PR (TJPR), filed against RBS.

The measure, granted as an urgent protective order, determined that the defendant must refrain from performing acts exclusive to physicians, consisting of conducting and issuing musculoskeletal ultrasound reports, as well as suspend the offering and conducting of courses advertised for physiotherapists.

The decision acknowledges the concrete risk of harm to the community, highlighting that ultrasound examinations performed by professionals without medical training can lead to incorrect or delayed diagnoses and mislead consumers, thus posing a risk to public health.

This is a significant step in defending public health and the prerogatives of radiology, reaffirming that the practice of diagnostic procedures and the issuance of reports must observe the applicable legal and technical-scientific parameters.

Victories like these are important because they guarantee that radiologists have the right to have medical procedures performed only by qualified and competent professionals. The CBR (Brazilian College of Radiology) is always attentive to irregularities and acts that encroach upon our specialty.
