Launch of the Radiology Atlas marks the opening of CBR 2025 in Curitiba

The opening of the 54th Brazilian Congress of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging (CBR 2025), in Curitiba, featured a broad scientific program, the launch of the Atlas of Radiology in Brazil 2025, and tributes to leading figures from the sector and medical societies. The event, which runs until Saturday (September 20th) at Up Experience, in Curitiba, Paraná, brings together more than 3,000 physicians, 400 national speakers, and 25 international speakers.

For Rubens Chojniak, president of the Brazilian College of Radiology (CBR), the Atlas is the result of a collective effort, focusing on gathering information from official and reliable sources, as well as rigorous analysis. "This organized data helps map the Brazilian radiology landscape and provides important information not only for the specialty but also for administrators, who can make more informed decisions," he noted.

The Atlas 2025 edition was presented by the Advisory Board Chair, Cibele Carvalho. "It is a work that reaffirms our commitment to the appreciation of radiology and the advancement of healthcare in Brazil. Since 2018, this initiative has become a reliable source of data on websites and analyses, culminating in two subsequent publications. Today, the Atlas is a tool for understanding the challenges and opportunities facing the sector, enabling a thorough analysis of current conditions and strategic planning," she emphasized.

The Radiology Atlas in Brazil presents a panoramic view of regional inequalities in access to diagnostic imaging services, the concentration of high-tech equipment in certain regions, and the disparity in the distribution of specialists across the country. This edition also features a unique initiative: the inclusion of the Perception Survey, which sought to understand issues that directly impact the work routines of radiologists. The Atlas is available on the CBR website.

Training and connectivity – Chojniak also highlighted in his speech the active role of the CBR in quality medical training, editorial and scientific production, the publication of guidelines within the specialty, and also in accreditation.

The scientific director of the congress, Maurício Zapparoli, thanked the broad participation in the event and also the interaction between the different medical societies.

Honorees – The societies honored during CBR 2025 were the Interamerican College of Radiology (CIR) and the Italian Society of Medical Radiology (SIRM).

Among the personalities, Uruguayan doctor Carlos Carnelli and doctor Francesco Giganti, from the United Kingdom, received the title of Honorary Member.

The Gold Medal was awarded to Dr. Radiá Pereira dos Santos and Dr. Arnolfo de Carvalho Neto. The Editorial Merit title was awarded to Dr. Edson Marchiori.
