The 2nd Congress on Accreditation and Quality in Diagnostic Medicine is successfully held

The 2nd Congress on Accreditation and Quality in Diagnostic Medicine took place on September 17, from 5 pm to 9 pm (Brasília time), virtually and live. The Congress was held on World Patient Safety Day, in a partnership between the Brazilian College of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging (CBR), the Brazilian Society of Clinical Pathology/Laboratory Medicine (SBPC/ML), the Brazilian Society of Pathology (SBP) and the Brazilian Association of Diagnostic Medicine (ABRAMED).

The event was attended by renowned speakers, who shared their experiences and knowledge through lectures and interactive roundtable discussions. In total, 153 people participated simultaneously.

The opening ceremony marked the beginning of the 2nd Congress of Accreditation and Quality in Diagnostic Medicine, and was attended by Dr. Cibele Carvalho – President of CBR, Dr. Clóvis Klock – President of SBP and Dr. Álvaro Pulchinelli – President of SBPC/ML.

Next, Dr. Wilson Shcolnik – Director of Institutional Relations at SBPC/ML spoke about the “importance of accreditation for the future of healthcare”. After the presentation by the SBPC/ML representative, Dr. Aline Morião – radiologist – spoke about “The 7 WHO strategies for patient safety in Diagnostic Medicine”.

The theme “Socio-environmental tripod in diagnostic medicine: sustainability of accreditation for a safe and responsible future” was presented by Rodrigo Henriques. And at the end of the first part of the event, Daniane Canali – National Quality Manager at DASA presented on: “Patient Safety in the Clinical Laboratory: Protocols and Practices”. At the end of the presentations, a debate session was held with the participation of the spectators of the online event.

In the second stage, the following topics were addressed by the following experts: “Accreditation of Diagnostic Medicine Services: Benefits and Challenges” – Dr. Larissa Marinho Larissa (SBP); “Use of Quality and Safety Indicators in Diagnostic Medicine” – Fernando Berlitz (Controllab); and “Basic Principles of Patient Safety in Diagnostic Environments: Importance of Protocols and Safe Practices” – Dr. Cristina Khawali (DASA). As in the first stage, at the end of the presentations, debates were held on the topics explained.
