August CBR webinar discussed the importance of lung cancer awareness

The CBR webinar in August had the theme: ''Smoking and Lung Cancer: multidisciplinary assessment with an emphasis on Imaging Diagnosis”. The monthly seminar of the Brazilian College of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging (CBR) took place on August 14th, from 7pm to 10pm, and was attended by Dr. Ronaldo Baroni, Dr. Gilberto Szarf, Dr. Edson Marchiori, Dr. Annemiek Snoeckx, Dr. Alexandre Mançano, Dr. Daniel Bonomi, Dr. Gustavo Faibischew Prado, Dr. Milene Truong and Dr. Clóvis Klock.

The webinar was divided into two parts between lecture and debate. Initially, the doctors addressed some topics related to lung cancer, including: 

  • Lung diseases linked to smoking;
  • Lung changes linked to electronic cigarettes; 
  • Unusual faces of a common disease: Primary lung cancer presenting as a benign disease;
  • Lung Rads 2023: Practical aspects;
  • Lung nodule care line – The importance of multidisciplinary assessment; 
  • Subsolid nodules: “So many shades of gray”;
  • Lung cancer staging: the radiologist's point of view;
  • Lung cancer classification: emphasis on radiological-pathological correlation;
  • Presentation of the first lung cancer screening consensus.

Subsequently, after the presentation of the themes, the seminar was open to debate between the doctors and Dr. Ronaldo Baroni, who facilitated the exchange of ideas regarding the subject. 

CBR took advantage of lung cancer awareness month and brought the subject up for debate. This edition of the Webinar aimed to raise awareness about lung cancer and the importance of its prevention. The event was in partnership with the European School of Radiology (ESOR), the American Society of Thoracic Radiology (STR) and the most important Brazilian medical societies linked to thoracic diseases.
