New at CBR: Meeting marks the College's Radiological Protection Commission

On Thursday (14), Dr. Alair Sarmet Santos, president of the Brazilian College of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging, led the first meeting of the new CBR committee: the Radiological Protection Committee.
The objective was to align the works that will be developed, such as specific events and strategic actions so that the theme “Radiological Protection” is in focus, always with the patient in mind.

The meeting was attended by the President of the College, Dr. Hilton Leão, director of communication at CBR and president of LatinSafe, physicists Hugo Schelin, Paulo Costa and Simone Kodlulovich, doctors Joaquim da Mota Leal Filho, Teresa Sarmet, Monica Bernardo, Dolores Bustelo, Claudio Tinoco and nuclear energy engineer, Lídia Vasconcelos. After opening made by Dr. Alair, who contextualized the commission's proposal and how the idea of bringing the group together came about. Then all the members introduced themselves and told their experiences with the subject.

The position of Brazil in relation to Radioprotection initiatives, identified from surveys carried out with the researched services, was also discussed, as well as the need to involve more radiologists in discussions on the subject.

The Radiological Protection Commission will have monthly meetings with an official demand agenda. The next meeting will be on March 14th and then always on the first Thursday of the month, from 6 pm to 8 pm.
