According to her, professionals in the field face exhausting work hours, inadequate pay and lack of recognition, which makes it urgent to implement public policies to improve these conditions. “We are an association of specialists committed to defending the issues of radiology and diagnostic imaging. Our main goal is to provide a service that goes beyond the category, contributing socially as doctors who always want to offer the best to their patients,” said Cibele.

She also highlighted that imaging diagnostics plays an essential role in early diagnosis, which reduces morbidity and mortality in the population. “This positive impact also contributes to the sustainability of the health system by reducing the costs of treating diseases, thanks to the identification and appropriate management of cases in their early stages,” she argued.

The hearing was held at the request of Senator Dr. Hiran (PP-RR) and chaired by Senator Astronaut Marcos Pontes (PL-SP). In addition to the president of the CBR, the ceremony was attended by Leonardo Alcântara, representative of the Brazilian Medical Federation (FMB), and Giovanni Guido Cerri, representative of the National Academy of Medicine (ANM).

In his speech, Pontes highlighted the relevance of the topic for the Brazilian healthcare system, addressing the importance of technology and logistics. “Dealing with healthcare in Brazil is of paramount importance, considering not only our size, but also the differences between different regions. Technology can certainly help, and does help, not only in making diagnostic treatments more efficient, but also in logistical control of the entire healthcare sector,” he stated.
