Atlas of Brazilian Radiology 2025 will be launched at CBR25

To reaffirm its commitment to promoting radiology and advancing healthcare in Brazil, the Brazilian College of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging (CBR) will launch the Atlas of Brazilian Radiology at the 54th Congress of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging (CBR25). The data and profiles of the specialty will be compiled in this comprehensive study.

The Atlas of Brazilian Radiology 2025 is a research study based on data from information systems in the areas of healthcare, demographics, and infrastructure. Its framework was developed based on medical and management literature from the sector, as well as other previous studies conducted by the College.

The study aims to outline the characteristics, profiles, and distribution of radiology specialists in Brazil, as well as describe the availability of diagnostic imaging equipment, services, and exams in the public and private healthcare sectors. The Atlas provides an in-depth overview of radiology and diagnostic imaging in Brazil.

The CBR publication collected data on certifications in areas of expertise and professional development programs recognized by the entity through the ICase system. Furthermore, the population base used data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) Demographic Census, with a reference date of July 1, 2024. The figures for health plan beneficiaries were extracted from the public databases of the National Supplementary Health Agency (ANS), with a reference date of December 2024. The numbers for diagnostic imaging equipment (mammograms, X-rays, computed tomography scanners, magnetic resonance imaging equipment, and ultrasound) were obtained through the National Registry of Brazilian Healthcare Establishments (CNES), with a reference date of December 2024.

In the document prepared by the College, various data were processed and presented in graphs and tables. Learn about some of the topics: distribution of radiologists by gender; distribution of radiologists by age and gender; radiologists by the nature of the medical school; distribution of radiologists in Brazil by state; and much more.

This is the third major study the CBR has published. The first, "Profile of the Radiologist in Brazil," was published in 2018, and in 2022, the CBR will publish the "Profile of the Radiologist in Brazil" again, with updated data. Like the previous two editions, the Atlas will be a crucial publication for our specialty and will soon be available on our website through the link below:
