CBR draws society's attention to the importance of the Specialist Qualification Register

The Specialist Qualification Registration (RQE) is the formality that allows the physician to disclose his specialty/area of activity after registering with the Regional Council of Medicine of his jurisdiction, in accordance with CFM Resolution No. 1.974/2011. Decree Law 8,516, of September 10, 2015, which created the National Register of Specialists, established that the title of specialist "[...] is that granted by specialist societies, through the Brazilian Medical Association - AMB, or by the medical residency programs accredited by the National Medical Residency Commission - CNRM." It appears, therefore, that obtaining the title of specialist is contemplated in two ways: passing the exams promoted by the medical associations/AMB or the medical residency programs accredited by the MEC. The regulation of medical specialties in Brazil is jointly established by the Federal Council of Medicine (CFM), the Brazilian Medical Association (AMB) and the National Medical Residency Commission (CNRM), with CFM Resolution No. of all medical specialties and respective areas of expertise currently recognized – a list that is updated with some frequency. Finally, it should be stressed that the disclosure of a medical specialty that cannot be proven constitutes an ethical infraction, pursuant to article 114 of the current Code of Medical Ethics. CBR Specialist Title   The Brazilian College of Radiology and Image Diagnosis (CBR), due to an agreement signed with the AMB, has the legally guaranteed prerogative, eventually together with other associations, of conferring the following specialist titles and certificates in the area of expertise: Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging General Ultrasound Ultrasonography in Gynecology and Obstetrics Mammography Vascular Ultrasound with Doppler Bone Densitometry Diagnostic Neuroradiology Therapeutic Neuroradiology Interventional Radiology and Angioradiology Thus, only the CBR has the legitimacy to grant and issue the above specialist titles or certificates in the area of expertise cited, according to the rules of the AMB. Furthermore, according to Article 115 of the Code of Medical Ethics, physicians are prohibited from “announcing scientific titles that they cannot prove and a specialty or area of expertise for which they are not qualified and registered with the Regional Council of Medicine.”.   With the aim of disseminating this and other information to society, the College also reinforces the importance of people knowing how to recognize the specialist in the areas in which he announces that he is qualified and act within the ethical concepts disseminated by scientific societies and Regional Councils of Medicine ( CRMs).   Want to know how to search for CBR Specialists?   Did you know that you can check if a doctor has a Specialist Title in the area of Diagnostic Imaging?
