ECR 2019 was characterized by the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the congress held in Vienna, which has been held in the city since 1991. CBR, as a representative of Brazilian Radiology and a partner of ESR, was present and carried out several important activities, reaffirming the importance of the entity in Brazil and in the world.

CBR had a stand for assistance with the availability of promotional materials, such as a folder, to reinforce communication regarding the Brazilian Congress of Radiology (CBR19), which will take place in Fortaleza, from October 10th to 12th, when it will receive 10 of the best speakers of ECR 2019 in an unprecedented partnership. “Brazil will be the first country in the world to receive the 'Best of ECR'”, says Dr. Maria de Fátima Vasco Aragão, second secretary of the CBR, who worked together with Dr. Manoel Rocha, former president of CBR, and to Dr. Alair Sarmet Santos, current president, for this partnership to be signed.

CBR and ESR: successful partnership

This year ESR launched an initiative called ESR Connect, which aimed to disseminate recorded interviews with participants of various nationalities during the event. CBR directors were invited to be interviewed representing Brazil. The topics addressed were the agreement between the CBR and the ESR, the first “Best of ECR” to be held in Brazil during the Brazilian Congress of Radiology (CBR19) in Fortaleza, and interactions between the two societies. The interview was aired on Saturday, March 2nd during the congress and broadcast on multiple video monitors throughout the ECR.

On Saturday, March 2, important meetings with the ESR will also take place. The first of the day was held with the director of the European School of Radiology (ESOR), Dr. Valerie Vilgrain, in which the last details of the ESOR Course 2019 in Brazil were defined, another result of this partnership. ESOR 2019 will take place in August, in the cities of Porto Alegre and Rio de Janeiro, and will have Neuroradiology as its theme. On the occasion, the theme of Thoracic Imaging was chosen for 2020, with the cities still being defined. Some possibilities for increasing exchange between the two institutions were also discussed.

There was also a meeting with the board of ESR, represented by Prof. doctor Bernd Hamm, Chairman of the Board, Michael Fuchsjager, Head of the International Relations Committee and Vice-Chairman-elect, Boris Brkljačić, Chairman-elect, Martina Szucsich, Secretary, and Peter Baierl, Executive Director. The “Best of ECR 2019” class program was approved and it was agreed to jointly evaluate the edition of the event right after the Brazilian Congress of Radiology (CBR19). ESR reported that the next “Best of ECR” will be in Canada.
