Important achievements related to CBHPM mark the year 2018

Many initiatives marked the year of the Brazilian College of Radiology and Image Diagnosis (CBR), which yielded important results. One of the highlights was the performance of the CBHPM Permanent Discussion Commission, with expressive results in the search for several improvements in relation to Imagem procedures. The inclusion of Contrast Ultrasonography (microbubbles) is an important example. During the meeting at CBHPM in which the inclusion was consolidated, several participating physicians defended the importance of the method for the population, together with the defense of the valuation of the procedure with the operators. “Contrast Ultrasonography is about good medicine. It is safe, effective and highly accurate. This is state of the art in Diagnostic Medicine”, says Dr. Rogério Silva, who accompanied and contributed throughout the process. Another important fact during the year, which the CBR gave wide publicity to, was the adequacy of the nomenclature of the CT procedure – Virtual Colonoscopy (colonography) in the TUSS (Unified Terminology of Supplementary Health) code 41001265, which changed from “Virtual Colonoscopy CT” for “CT – Virtual Colonoscopy (colonography)”. The procedure was included in the CBHPM with the pricing requested by the CBR. The inclusion of some image procedures in the CBHPM, as well as the modification of others, has been one of the main flags raised by the current management of the CBR in the area of professional defense. “Imaging procedures are always evolving. The incorporation of new techniques, always based on the importance of their role in promoting the health of the population, often reducing costs and increasing the effectiveness of care, are fundamental actions for the defense of a high standard of Medicine and, at the same time, add value to the continuous improvement of the physician specialized in Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging”, concludes Dr. Cibele Alves de Carvalho, director of Professional Defense at the College.
