The participation of the CBR board in the Uruguayan congress strengthens institutional relations and scientific cooperation in Latin America.

The Brazilian College of Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging (CBR) participated in the XV Uruguayan Congress of Imagenology, held between October 22nd and 24th, 2026 in Punta del Este, Uruguay. At the event of Society of Radiology and Imagenology of Uruguay (SRIU), representing the CBR were Dr. Ronaldo Hueb Baroni, Director of International Relations, and Dr. Maurício Zapparoli, Scientific Director of the entity. Dr. Ronaldo Baroni presented two lectures: one on biparametric magnetic resonance imaging of the prostate and another dedicated to active surveillance in prostate cancer, including the PRECISE classification.Prostate Cancer Radiological Estimation of Change in Sequential Evaluation), An internationally standardized scale developed to assess and compare radiological changes in tumors on sequential magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans during active surveillance.

Dr. Maurício Zapparoli addressed bladder cancer from two perspectives: the application of the VI-RADS system and post-treatment imaging of the disease. These topics reflect areas of growing relevance in diagnostic radiology, as imaging protocols become established as central tools in staging, treatment planning, and oncological follow-up.

institutional agenda

In addition to scientific activities, the directors held meetings with representatives from SRIU to discuss bilateral cooperation, focusing on expanding opportunities for scientific and educational exchange between the entities.

The agenda also included a meeting with representatives of the radiology societies of the Southern Cone of the Inter-American College of Radiology (CIR), dedicated to aligning joint initiatives and strengthening regional integration.

The CBR's participation in international events is part of a strategy aimed at integrating Brazilian radiology into the global scientific landscape and strengthening relationships with partner societies. In Latin America, the College has sought to expand its presence and technical contribution, especially within the CIR, which coordinates national entities in the region.
