The Brazilian College of Radiology and Image Diagnosis (CBR), in accordance with its ethical and statutory principles as well as its commitment and responsibility in providing the best service to the population, hereby informs that it has received a complaint about the performance of ultrasound exams by non-medical professionals, therefore unskilled and/or qualified.
– In relation to these facts, the CBR reaffirms its position in the sense that:
- The execution, interpretation and issuance of the patient's report are the exclusive competence of the physician;
- The CBR also recommends that the ultrasound examination should be performed by a qualified physician, who is a professional trained to perform this procedure.
In view of the above, CBR communicates that, through its Board of Directors, it has adopted the appropriate measures in order to preserve the medical act, thus always aiming at the best service to the population and greater patient safety, in addition to defending the relevance of the duly qualified physician, registered with the Regional Council of Medicine.
Finally, it highlights that an open channel for complaints is available on its website, preserving anonymity, and for direct communication with its associated physicians.
