Accreditations
The Brazilian College of Radiology and Imaging Diagnosis (CBR) is affiliated with the Brazilian Medical Association, integrating its Scientific Council as the Department of Imaging Diagnosis in Brazil. The CBR brings together medical professionals and Services that carry out diagnostic and treatment activities using imaging methods and/or ionizing radiation. The following are imaging diagnosis and treatment methods linked to CBR: conventional and specialized radiology, radiotherapy, general and Doppler ultrasound, obstetric and gynecological ultrasound, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, vascular and interventional radiology, mammography, bone densitometry, and others that, eventually , fulfill the purposes of the CBR. Medical Residency and Services that offer training in the form of Improvement in Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging (RDI) must offer broad and in-depth quality education in all disciplines associated with the specialty and be duly registered and recognized by the CBR.
Accreditation of new programs:
Improvement Courses in Radiology and Imaging Diagnosis, Ultrasound and Subspecialization at level 4 or 5 (Fellowships) will only be considered accredited/re-accredited by the CBR Teaching, Improvement and Residency Commission (CEAR-CBR) when approved by the accreditation/residency process. annual re-accreditation. To request annual accreditation/re-accreditation, the Service must complete the electronic form through the CEAR platform (Click here to be directed). It manages all data on training services, resident linking, and allows better interaction between coordinators and CEAR. The period for requesting new accreditations will be from March 1st to June 30th.
Service partner institutions:
These are all clinics and/or hospitals in which the training program activities are carried out under the coordination of the Service. To formalize the partner institution, it is necessary for the Service registered with the CBR to provide all the data of the partner institutions (Corporate Name, CNPJ, full address, clinical staff and structure).
Check the status of the Service’s clinical staff:
Please note that, in accordance with accreditation standards, the coordinator and all preceptors/assistants must be full members of the Colégio Brasileiro de Radiologia e Diagnóstico por Imagem.
Services Accredited exclusively by MEC:
Services with programs accredited exclusively by the MEC must also register on the electronic platform, as this will facilitate communication with the CBR and the dissemination of residents' performance in the annual tests. There will be no fee charged for these Services.
Important report:
CEAR-CBR informs that since 2018 new accreditations and/or the increase in places for training programs in Radiology and Imaging Diagnosis have been cancelled. This is due to the beginning of the review process of RDI training models, the relationship with the National Medical Residency Commission (CNRM) and with the MEC residency programs. Accreditations for Ultrasonography and Fellowship/Level 4 and 5 training programs remain available.

The period for carrying out annual re-accreditation will be from March 1st to April 30th, 2024. As previously informed through the Accreditation Standards published on our website, since 2018, we have started to charge for Services accredited exclusively by CBR (improvement courses) an annual fee intended to help cover part of the costs of inspections, secretarial costs and the processing of documents relating to improvement courses. Services accredited exclusively by the CBR in public institutions (federal, state and municipal), in addition to all Services accredited by the MEC, are exempt from this fee.
