The Brazilian College of Radiology and Image Diagnosis (CBR) began offering the Clinic Management Course in May, the main objective of which is to guide radiologists on how to better manage and administer their private clinics. Among the topics addressed in the editions of the course, we can highlight Commercial relationship with operators, Ensuring financial sustainability of clinics, Deploying Padi It is Reducing costs with the use of information technology. A success with the public, the event has drawn the attention of both professionals in the beginning of their careers as well as well-known names in the market. This was the case, for example, of Dr. Marcelo de Queiroz Pereira da Silva, teleradiologist, full member of the CBR and also an associate of the Paulista Society of Radiology (SPR) and the American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS). Even though he has been a manager for many years, he considered his participation in the course fundamental and attended it in 2016, as we can see in the following interview. He currently manages Webimagem (www.webimagemlaudos.com.br in the neighborhood of Barra Funda, in São Paulo (SP).
CBR – How long have you had your clinic and have you been working in medicine?
doctor Marcelo – I have been in the market for 16 years. I opened my clinic in 2001. Webimagem was founded in 2008.
CBR – How is your routine as a doctor and clinic manager? What activity do you dedicate the most time to?
doctor Marcelo – The routine of being a radiologist and managing it is not easy, but I am not alone. I have an excellent team of doctors and also professionals in the administrative and operational sectors that help me in the development and in the search for continuous improvement. Currently, the time spent between decision-making and company management is divided equally with the role of the radiologist. Management is a passion that began in 2011 at Fundação Getúlio Vargas in São Paulo (FGV-SP) and has been improving; Medicine, on the other hand, is an older love.
CBR – How has the course helped you manage the clinic?
doctor Marcelo – Webimagem has grown a lot in recent years, and the CBR course has given us tools to deal with the organization of these new demands in a very accessible way, also helping to improve our negotiations with operators, to better position ourselves in the face of guidelines of quality programs and to learn about the possibilities of saving through information technology.
CBR – Why would you recommend the course to professionals who need to focus on management and administration?
doctor Marcelo – Because it is extremely current. The teachers are excellent and belong to renowned institutions, and the course is very well designed. I admit that, for the doctor, the subject may be initially indigestible, but it is important for us to go deeper, even to understand the language that is spoken in management, very different from our language in Medicine.
